Age 91.
Beloved wife of the late Martin. Dear mother of Gary (Barbara) and Keith (deceased). In lieu of flowers, a contribution in her name to Farmington Public Schools Foundation would be much appreciated. She will always be remembered in our hearts as "The Lady in Pink."
Elizabeth "Betty" Pastrovich Weisenburg was born on December 17, 1925 to Samuel and Elizabeth Pastrovich on a farm on Hawkins Road in Valley Park, Missouri. She had nine brothers and sister; Ed, Bill, Joe, John, Frank, Eugene, Marie, Helen, and Sam Jr. The family all worked together on the farm raising geese, chickens, pigs, cows, and crops. When Samuel first immigrated to America from Croatia, Betty's father toured the south playing music. Betty naturally sang harmony and passed her love of music on to her sons. She was also a talented athlete and loved to skate, dance, and play golf. She was a skilled stenographer even before she graduated from high school.
Betty met her high school sweetheart, Marty, at Valley Park High School. They married after the war ended and Marty got back from the Battle of Okinawa. They were married for over 68 years until Marty passed away in 2015. Betty and Marty had two sons, Gary and the late Keith (d. 2015). They moved from St. Louis to Indianapolis and eventually settled in Farmington Township, MI.
Betty enjoyed her work as a secretary very much and took great pride in it, typing over 100 words a minute! She was first a secretary for the Special Education Department of Farmington Schools and finished her career as the executive assistant to several of the Farmington Superintendents and the Board of Education. When she retired, they had to hire two people to take her place!
Betty will always be remembered for her kind, charitable, generous ways and her beautiful smile. She was an outstanding baker and gardener and shared this love with family and friends. Her fabulous owl collection even made the newspaper!
She is survived by her loving family and many loving nieces and nephews, her Conventry House family who took such good care of her and Dad, and her many devoted friends.
May the best of her live on in you and all that you touch. Godspeed to her arrival among those who wait for the much loved "Lady in Pink."
