Edward J. Kowaleski, 89 passed away on January 26 , 2017.
Born in Chicago, Ed and his wife, Marguerite (nee Kuhn) lived in Farmington, MI since 1968. This past August, Ed and Marguerite celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, surrounded by family and friends. Ed and Marguerite have 9 children: Maryanne, Paula (Gordon) Bowman, Peter, Therese (Gary) Pilchak, Ruth, Cathy (Michael) Ierulli, Jean, Marie (Christopher) Tolen, Joseph (Kris), 13 Grandchildren: Nick (Sabrina) Bowman, Sarah Bowman, Julieann Kowaleski (Conor) Dare, Jake Kowaleski, Madeleine Pilchak (Alex) McMall, William Pilchak, Gregory Pilchak, Clara Pilchak, Grace Tolen, Jack Tolen, Emma Kowaleski, Sophia Kowaleski and Julia Kowaleski and 4 Great Grandchildren: Micaela and Rocco Bowman, and Seamus and Sean Dare, daughter-in-law Shawn Kowaleski and many nieces and nephews.

After serving in the Navy in World War II, he received his degree in Philosophy from Loyola University in Chicago, and later a Master's Degree from Marquette University. Ed was an executive at Ford Motor Company, where he worked for over 40 years. He was a skilled photographer, a member of the Leica Historical Society, and took beautiful pictures of family, friends and scenery that he developed and printed in his enviable basement darkroom, well before digital photography became the status quo. He also loved classical music, opera, travelling, lunches with friends, and was an avid reader. Until recently, Ed was a volunteer at the Coalition for Temporary Shelter in Detroit. Ed was a staunch supporter of social justice and human rights. Above all, he cherished his wife and family, and has provided them with an abundance of loving memories. Holidays, summer weekends at their backyard pool, often with 4 generations present, and family celebrations of any kind were his happiest times.
