Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Diane Margery Coutts Riordan, 63, of Farmington Hills, Michigan on June 25, 2019, her fiancé Dave Mack at her bedside. Diane is predeceased by her parents, Adam Casson Coutts and Margery L. Coutts. She is survived by her brother Doug Casson (Lynne) Coutts; nephews Evan Casson (Casey) Coutts and Lyle Adam Coutts (Adair Raybon); and great nephew Callan. Diane was a much loved fiancé, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, godmother, cousin and friend.

Born on June 15, 1956, Diane was raised and stayed in the Farmington Hills area. In her younger years she enjoyed annual visits to Manitoulin Island with her parents, grandparents and her brother where they would enjoy time with family and friends. Diane's family were active members of the Bayview Yacht Club. Diane was always on the go. She and her then-husband Dave Riordan enjoyed biking, skiing, fun weekends at the cottage, spending time with their dogs and visiting Sanibel Island with her Mom. More recently Diane chose to adopt retired racing greyhounds, giving them a loving home. She had a very enthusiastic, positive approach to life and always had a plan for optimizing the activities of the day. Spending time with Diane was never boring! Attending Christmas markets, cooking delicious meals and singing in the church choir were some of her many interests. She gave her full attention to any project she took on. Determined to help people she became a nurse. She was a well-respected operating room nurse. However, Diane was always looking for new nursing challenges and her career took her into medical sales, legal nurse consulting, home care and eventually managing nursing units. Her caring and compassionate heart helped her excel both as a nurse and a friend. Over the past several years, Diane unfailingly attended to her mother's health needs, advocating tirelessly for her to have the best possible care. Diane found new happiness with her fiancé David Mack. Recently retired, Diane had plans to bake for a B&B, travel and dance with Dave. Sadly, her plan to be with us for many more years was not to be. Her bright smile, sparkling eyes and good natured sense of humour will be deeply missed by her fiancé, her family and all who knew her. She will never be forgotten.
