Derek Best, a spiritually driven man of many talents and a resident of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on February 17, 2016 at the age of 71 of natural causes leaving behind his surviving widow LiPing Best.

Derek's early career was as a producer of many documentaries broadcast by the BBC. He had also taught as an adjunct professor of media arts at the University of Toronto and the University of Windsor. He continued his interest in media arts throughout his life creating numerous works of photographic art expressing his love of nature focusing on the indominable personalties of cats.

He had voluntarily created and supported a website for the Foundation for a Course of Miracles for several years through which he expressed the spirtual foundation of his life's philosophy.

Derek contributed many original articles to several magazines including Macleans Magazine in Canada and Omni Magazine in the United States.

His most ambitious career was as a software developer that he passionately pursued with all of his energy until he passed.
