Age 84, of Northville (Farmington Hills). Born in St. David, Illinois.

Beloved husband of Carol J. (Wimmer) Martin for 24 years. Dearest father of Patricia (Rick) Schilling, Carol Martin (the late Manolo) Gutierrez and Scott Martin. Cherished grandfather of Sara and Leslie Martin Gutierrez of Madrid, Spain; Jennifer and Elizabeth Schilling of White Lake, Michigan. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his first wife Elaine Martin.

Mr. Martin served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Armour College, Chicago, Illinois and joined General Motors. His career with General Motors lasted 34 years, serving in managerial positions in a number of countries around the world.

After retiring from General Motors, Mr. Martin became very active for many years managing farms he had acquired in Iowa and Illinois.

Funeral Service Saturday 11 a.m. (in state 10 a.m.) at Ward Presbyterian Church, 40000 Six Mile Rd., Northville, MI 48168. Officiant Rev. David Owen, Pastor.

Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, downtown Farmington (1 blk. W. of Farmington Rd.).

Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Canton, Illinois.
