Changu Janet Salare
Munkomba
Jun 8, 1976 — Feb 17, 2020
Changu Janet Salare Munkomba of Redford passed away Monday, February 17th, 2020 at the age 43. Changu was born on June 8th, 1976 in Lusaka, Zambia.
She was the fourth daughter of Donald and Veronica Salare. Changu was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Chikolo.
Beloved wife of Benson Munkomba and loving mother to Chileshe, Mwalimu and Nehemiah. Changu was a dear sister to Murambisa, Gwati and Teme; Aunt to Junior, Chiko, Billy and Edith; "small mummy" (Aunt) to Mwaba, Mulenga, Semwa and Mutale, Thomas, Shamai, and Levy. She also leaves behind many close friends and relatives.
Changu's light shined so bright, she touched all who met her. She was radiant, full of energy, and always the life of the party. She loved to dance and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Above all, Changu loved her children the most. She was a dedicated and committed mother, who would go the extra mile for her children. She was a soccer mom who was always on the move, yet she still found to be present for others. During her time in the United States, Changu worked in hospice. She was able to bring joy and a smile on the faces of her patients and their families as they went through the darkest moments of their lives. She truly was passionate and caring to all around her. Changu was a devout Christian. We find comfort in knowing even as she faced the toughest battle in her life, she leaned on the Lord until her final moments.
The Salare and Munkomba families will receive guests from 2:00pm – 8:00pm on Sunday, February 23rd, 2020, at Thayer Rock Funeral Home. Changu's Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, February 24th, 2020, also at the funeral home. This will be followed by burial at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan.
We mourn the loss of a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, but also celebrate her beautiful soul, and the wonderful life she lived. We request you brighten the day, as she would have wanted, by dressing up in your best attire.
