Obituary

Bill age 81 passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Born August 16, 1936 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee the son of the late Marvin and Lula Rooker, beloved husband to the love of his life Mary Ellen; dear Father of Steven (Heather) Rooker and the Late William (Billy) Rooker; proud Papa of Emily, Aiden, and Nate Rooker. Brother to the late Hazel; Irene; the late Orbin (Rook); the late Robert; the late Perry (Pete); the late Melvin (Mel); the Late Iva Lee; Dean; and Barbara Ann Rooker and 48 nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Bill was born at home in Tennessee on the farm and was always proud of his southern roots, in 1955 he moved to Detroit to live with his brother Mel in search of work. Bill eventually found work in the retail automotive business, a business he loved and excelled at for over 48 years, well known as the "Cadillac Man". Bill was a man of tremendous work ethic and integrity. in 1957 Bill married his one true love Mary Ellen Miles, a marriage that would last over six decades and bless this world with two sons and three grandchildren.

Bill enjoyed working in his yard riding his John Deere, snowmobiling, hunting, collecting guns, shooting, gardening, and playing cards. His true love was spending time with his family and friends, the dedication and love that Bill showed to everyone was the defining charteristic of his life. This was especially true later in life when he had more time to spend with Mary Ellen and his Grandchildren. He loved spending time with Emily, watching her excel in her musical talents and Aiden and Nate could do no wrong! Papa became a best bud, chauffer, chef (egg sandwiches and oatmeal) and toy fixer upper for his grandchildren all while instilling the value of family.

Bill went thru many health issues the last several years, but always was quick with a smile or a joke, always trying to make your day a little brighter. That's just who he was.
