Age 73, of Bloomfield MI, following a brief battle with cancer.
Survivors include Carole, his wife of fifty years, sisters Carol (Robert) Warren and Janet Keller, other relatives and many friends. Loving father of Brian (Anna) Keller and Linda (Luke) VanGosen. Proud grandfather of Thor and Wade Keller, Brandon and Ethan VanGosen.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Norbert and Marguerite Keller, he moved to the Detroit area exactly 50 years ago. He worked in engineering at Cadillac Motor Car Division for twenty years, followed by seventeen additional years for General Motors and Delphi Automotive. Retiring from Delphi as General Director of Quality, he was a disciple of Dr. W. Edwards Deming’s philosophy of management.
Norb earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University, and a Master of Science in Management from the Stanford University Sloan Program.
A lifelong learner, his love of travel and new experiences took him, along with Carole, to all fifty states, much of Canada, and throughout the world. Since retiring, he was an automotive history tour guide with Preservation Wayne, reader for Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic, and most recently, a facilitator with SMART Recovery.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Downtown Farmington, and on Saturday from 12:30- 1:45 p.m., with a "Life Celebration" service to follow at 2 p.m.
