Age 92, of Farmington Hills passed away peacefully on February 14, 2013 at Angela Hospice in Livonia.
Predeceased by Lois, his wife of 62 years, son Michael and brother Denis. Father of Tom (Dorothy), Janet (Richard) Kos and Carol Kohls. Grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 2.
Born in Dysart, Scotland in 1920 and immigrated to Detroit in 1929. He graduated from Southwestern H.S. in 1939 where he was on the track team.
He attended Michigan State University until joining the U.S. Army in 1943. A decorated WWII Veteran, he fought in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign for 3 years as a staff sergeant in the Field Artillery.
He married Lois Fulford at Holy Redeemer Church in 1947 and joined the Detroit Police Department that same year, where he was on the track and field team. He was in the Traffic Safety Bureau, a detective sergeant, and the court arraignment officer known as “Mac”. He received many commendations and retired in 1987 after 40 years of service.
His family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to all of the staff at Angela Hospice for their very professional, kind, and compassionate care during Thomas’ 3 month stay.
Visitation will be Sunday Feb. 17 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home
