Robert V.

Age 71. Passed suddenly, in Apache Junction, Arizona. Born in Detroit, Michigan to Vincent and Florence DeCorte. Beloved husband of Carol (Lenton-Erickson) DeCorte. Father of Stephen DeCorte (Allison), Theresa Hoeft (Jerrod), Michelle Kohler (Mark). Step-dad of Jennifer Butts (Michael), Sara Bocketti (Philip), Mark Erickson, and Matthew Erickson (Jill). Survived by 17 loving grandchildren: Joshua, Katie, Lexi Hoeft; Jake, Zachary Kohler; Joey, Chris, Lauren DeCorte; Claire, Scott Butts; Brad, Matthew, Jillian Bocketti; Marcus, Vivian Erickson (Mark); Mackenzie, Jacob Erickson (Matt).

"Safety Bob" was a traffic engineer, employed for many years by AAA Michigan and Traffic Improvement Association of Oakland County, and was most recently a private consultant working with several communities and school districts in Oakland County. He served on the Board of Directors and several committees in the active resort where he made his winter home in Arizona. Softball was a lifetime passion, having played on the Lady of Good Counsel team for 30 plus years and on the team in his Arizona winter community. The highlight of Bob's baseball experience was his trip to Lakeland in 2005 to participate in the Detroit Tiger's Fantasy Camp. He loved people, and people loved him. He treated all with the same respect, irregardless of their title or station in life. He had that knack of making you feel "special". With his upbeat personality, he always had a friendly smile, a wave, a joke to tell, or a prank to pull. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bob left us suddenly on Monday, January 28th, exactly the way he wanted to go...with a massive cardiac incident while jogging. Though our hearts are heavy with our loss, we are thankful that God was merciful in his quick and peaceful exit from this life. We are all so fortunate to have had this man touch our lives. We are better people for having known him. Until we meet again...We love you, Bob!
